Kazaa goes Legit

Once being forced to closed down by lines of court rulings, as reported in CNET News.com, Kazaa, a former giant in the P2P world with the same popularity rate as Napster and LimeWire, is back on the surface as a standard-issue music-subscription site, fully up and running, and prepared even for just a quick check at Kazaa.com.

Wrapped inside its almost-unrecognizable new looks, are unlimited number of DRM-protected music tracks, ready to be accessed under a number of subscribing regulations, including usage limitation up to only 3 PCs (not Macs) per account, zero compatibility with any portable MP3 players, $19.98 per month subscription fee, and a restriction-from-playing issue that will be applied on the downloaded Kazaa tunes, once the subscription runs out.

So, considering its ironic choice of involving DRM in the business, which is abandoned long since by even big music labels, and highly avoided by users, not to mention the popularity of free (or nearly free) music streaming sites like Slacker, Pandora, and Last FM nowadays, let’s hope that Kazaa really have something good in their sleeves for the $20 worth of month subscription.
